Sometimes I think I ought to try a Bacon Challenge. Try to eat at least one piece of bacon a day for a year. I've easily done it for a week and would probably have no trouble at all for a month. But a year might be too much.
The picture is a bacon cinnamon roll. Someone posted this to Ravelry and another to Facebook, with the usual "I bet that's disgusting"/"This is why your fat" comments, and I'm sorry, but I think it looks good. So I tried it. The cinnamon roll dough from the can doesn't unroll neatly. I ended up taking scissors and cutting the circular strips. I also baked the bacon because one needs to heat up the oven anyway and baked bacon just melts in the mouth. I thought it was yummy. I like salty sweet things like dark chocolate with salt. I don't know if I'll bother with the effort though more than once a year at most, if again.
Yes, I've had the dark chocolate bacon bar, and I think it's delicious.
Someone asked me if I could come up with a diabetic/low carb alternative, so I suggested cook the bacon to right before crispy stage, dust lightly with cinnamon, and roll up with cream cheese. The easiest way is to cut a 1/4 inch slice of cheese off the block. I am probably going to have this for lunch next week. One could skewer that with toothpicks and serve at parties.
I got tired of apologizing for my bacon love when I came up with bacon curry. I realize how offensive that probably is to the originators of curry, but it tastes so good. I probably should not call my curry as actual curry, but I have no other name for it. Dice then fry the bacon. Add chopped onion and potato (or left over rice from that Chinese place if it's around - couscous or rice I think is supposed to be more authentic). When that's mostly cooked, I dust with tumeric, cumin, cinnamon, red and white pepper, hot and smoky paprika, ginger, and anything else that moves me. I have to avoid the cardamon because of GI reactions. Add a can of coconut milk or a thing of yogurt, or just a cup of cream- depending on what's in the house. Let it cook down a bit. One could not cook the rice in and serve on top of rice or couscous instead of mashing it all together, but I like it mixed.
I also love wrapping meat with bacon in the oven or the crock pot. I posted how to pork a turkey before.
